Water Filter Replacement Cartridge- Its Just As Important

by Zachus J Winestone

If you are into health than you are sure to appreciate the health benefits of having filtered water. But hooking up the filter is just the start. It is equally important that you remember to use a filter replacement cartridge at the intervals recommended by the filter manufacturer. A filter is a great way of removing contaminants from your drinking water supply, but as it does dirt tends to clog the filter. When the filter is clogged it becomes less effective at doing its job. That is why you need to use a filter replacement cartridge regularly to keep your drinking water supply fresh and clean.

Filters are great for use at home because, depending on the water usage, you can install them in a variety of places. The most common of which is the kitchen faucet. This is where it’s most crucial to have a water filtration system. There are two primary types which will achieve this.

The original filter mounts directly to the tap. This is the least invasive, and most economic, option. The filter unit is kept at easy access; making replacement easy. Tap mounted systems screw directly into the end of the faucet. Simply swivel the unit, or push a button to switch between filtered/non filtered water.

The only time you really need to use filtered water is when you want to actually drinking it, like a glass of water or boiling a pot of coffee. If you are cooking with water, doing the dishes, or simply washing your hands, unfiltered tap water is just fine to use. By limiting how much filtered water you actually use, you will decrease the amount of filter replacement cartridges you will have to purchase, thus saving you money.

A larger, less conspicuous water filtration system is one which is mounted under the kitchen sink. All the water which passes through it is filtered. The system and its filter replacement cartridge last longer making the higher price tag worth paying.

An under the sink filtration system will typically be plumbed separately to the back of the sink. This can typically be achieved with a simple steel tube style faucet. In doing this, you allow for a separate drinking faucet, and a dishwashing system.

Another good spot for a filter is the water system in your refrigerator. An inline filter will even clean the water used to make your ice cubes! Don’t forget, this will require a filter change every now and then too.
