Dorm Room Items To Avoid Forgetting
Staying in in dorms at college is the first time that many youths live away from home. Whilst the majority can survive easily enough in the normally very basic circumstances there are a few items that can make living there less hassle.
- Cleaning Supplies. Dorm rooms often get very dirty very quickly, particularly if there is a fair amount of partying taking place. A mop, sponge and disinfectant are useful for keeping this in check.
- Power Strip / Surge Protector. In most cases, a dorm room has between 4 and 6 electrical sockets. With all the electrical items that students end up using, there are often more things requiring electricity than outlets. It’s also common to find them to be located together or in inconvenient locations so purchasing an extension cable or two provides greater flexibility to arrange the room as you want.
- Bandages and First Aid Kit. Though the standard college student mentality is that they are indestructible, sometimes minor accidents can occur that need a little medical care. A good first aid kit, complete with cold medication, burn ointment, and bandages is an essential for any college student.
- Private Printer. All most all colleges provide computing areas for students to work on projects and to print papers, either as a part of tuition or for a nominal fee per page. Unfortunately, these facilities can often be very busy and are subject to daytime hours of availablity. Having the option to print without waiting around or restrictions with a personal printer is much less hassle. The big electrical stores normally offer several basic printers on special offer that perfectly fulfill a college students printing needs.
- Additional Bedding. The item that takes up more space than anything else in a college dorm room is the bed. With it being the biggest object, it tends to be made use of for more than just sleeping. This can quickly lead to spills, stains, and dirty sheets that need to be washed. Keeping several sets of linens, including a comforter or quilt, sheets, and pillow case, makes sleeping a nicer, cleaner experience.
- Tools. Things get broke within dorm rooms and when they do often the building maintenance guys don’t come quick enough or claim that it isn’t their responsibility. Getting yourself standard tools, such as a hammer and screwdriver, makes such repairs less frustrating.

Having tape or any kind of adhesive makes it easier to hang up pictures, posters, and other decorations without damaging the wall or the decorations themselves.
