Take Your Company Public: A Must Read Before You Do Anything! As a consultant in the business of structuring companies, setting up strategic alliances for clients, writing business plans and PPM's and taking companies public on the OTCBB, I must admit I've seen my share of scams and swindling of uninformed clients. One sad issue that permeates the industry is clients who believe that their only option is to give up substantial equity while paying hefty fees to consultants who take your company public.

Crime and bail bonds in Las Vegas provide an interesting backdrop for a city filled with intrigue and notoriety. Some would say the Las Vegas bail bonds stories are downright crazy. They are seemingly fit for the movies rather than actual news headlines. Some of the more shocking Las Vegas bail bonds stories of 2010 include a bail bondsman on the wrong side of the law, a masturbating doctor and an online gaming tycoon granted bail but not released.

Alexis Arguello, one of the greatest boxers to ever compete , was found dead in his Managua, Nicaragua home in early July of an apparent suicide. He was 57 years old. Arguello was found with a gunshot wound to his chest, but his high political stature in the country meant that an investigation would be forthcoming to verify that it was indeed self inflected. Arguello was the mayor of Nicaragua's capital city at the time of his death.

Federal Reserve Chief Ben Bernanke spoke at the Bank of Japan on May 25, 2010, demanding that central banks be considered "independent" of politics. "In undertaking financial reforms, it is important that we maintain and protect the aspects of central banking that proved to be strengths during the crisis and that will remain essential to the future stability and prosperity of the global economy," Bernanke said. His meaning was perfectly clear. Congress -- don't pass legislation that allows you to audit the Federal Reserve. He said, "Chief among these aspects has been the ability of central banks to make monetary policy decisions based on what is good for the economy in the longer run, independent of short-term political considerations. Central bankers must be fully accountable to the public for their decisions, but both theory and experience strongly support the proposition that insulating monetary policy from short-term political pressures helps foster desirable macroeconomic outcomes and financial stability."

When an investor is looking at your business they are obviously looking for the basics: an executive team that has worked with other companies in your industry at the exact stage you are at now with a solid track record of success, an active advisory board that is eager to help and has a solid comprehension of your industry, a board of directors that acts as your company's strategic think tank and action center where the tough issues get dealt with and questions get answered. Investors also want to see that you are in a growth industry and that all involved have the discipline to step out of the emotional ups and downs of a start up or company seeking capital and look at the business objectively.
